Sunday Visit to My Special Friends From Perth
Moira Schneider
Imo & Bill have come to visit family & friends, primarily to celebrate Imo's Mum's 90th Birthday. Also a big reunion for Bill's family in Cornwall. I headed off to be in time to share together, have lunch & a have a walk with Imo around the village that she grew up in. It was a special time together, as when Imo talks of the village she grew up in, I have a picture as she shares. It just so happened that there was a children's party in the little school that Imo went to & we were able to walk through it. Funny when we go back to places, how small they seem. compared to what we carry in our memories. From there we walked to the dear little church. It was again special as this was where Imo went as a young girl, & where she & Bill were married. Then later her Dad was buried in the cemetery very close to the church entrance. We walked around the grounds & found the old Rectory which is in the process of being restored - probably as apartments.
A lovely time came to an end with photos & goodbyes & then I was on the road again.
Setting out on our walk.
Imo had lots of friends whose houses she remembered playing at as a little girl.
Covered walkways into the village.
Different styles of homes.
Imo in the school hall.
Walking alongside the wall of the church yard.
Bringing back memories of how many times Imo walked this parthway ....
Imo discovering where her Dad is buried.
Around the back of the church.
Past the little pub nearing home.
